Will Project Suggestions and Ideas
From WillProject
This page is intended as collaborative collection of ideas and suggestions for inclusion into the wiki. As such it has a very loose structure, and items will be moved to the more structured pages at a later date. It can also provide a simple "drop off point" where contributors can add notes, suggestions, book/article titles, or anything else potentially useful to the project.

Honourable additions to your list:
Chogyam Trungpa and Michel Foucault.
Trungpa elucidates a benevolent attitiude to be taken toward the world and how this integrates with Will, especially in Training the Mind - though he is a little wet for some tastes.
In his lectures, many of which are available in printed form, Foucault outlines what can be described as a extension of Neitzschean ideas into political spheres. Also his dissection of how society treats the mentally ill and the criminal, as well as societal labelling of sexual perversion, all feed into a perfect illumination of the role of the Willed in modern society. 60.234.139.53 23:27, 24 April 2008 (EDT)
I've recently downloaded Martha Crampton's material on empowerment of the will through life coaching. (http://two.not2.org/psychosynthesis/articles/coach.htm) She reflects on a dream in which she saw a person connected to her life purpose, who stays on track and does not get sidetracked and who is aligned with her higher will so that she moves forward seemingly effortlessly.
Martha Crampton then continues by looking more deeply at establishing a connection with the higher will, and working with the personal will to set goals, priorities and boundaries. Her material has a number of references to relevant literature, and describes how she uses a range of techniques to support development of the will in life coaching.
This material strikes me as a useful link between psychosynthesis and life coaching.

[edit] History of the Will
22 April 2008 - A page for the Annotated Bibliography of the Will has been started. APA-styled citations have been added. Annotations to be added later.
The International Congress of Psychosynthesis in Canada from 11 to 15 September 1998 had the suggestion to "Develop an annotated bibliography of references to the will in historical writings".

[edit] Concepts
[edit] Will (general)
From The Magician's Dictionary:
- Another word for persistence and maintained attention. Will is one of the two natural human powers for altering reality (the other is imagination). When faced with an insoluble problem or great odds against us, it is the Will alone that leads us through to solution and victory. As the imagination is the power of the mind through understanding and enlightenment, the Will is the way of material action. There is no will without physical effort of some kind exerted over physical phenomena.
- Colin Wilson says of the will:
- "Modern civilization induces an attitude of "passivity." When a Stone Age hunter set out to trap wild animals, he was aware of his will as a living force. When the prehistoric farmer scored the surface of the earth with a crude plough, he knew that his family's survival through the winter depended on his effort, and his will responded to the challenge. When a modern city dweller walks down a crowded thoroughfare, he feels no sense of challenge or involvement. This city was built by other people; all these shops and offices are owned by other people. He can get through an ordinary day's work in a state approximating to sleep. Most of his routine tasks are carried out by the 'robot.' There is neither the need or the opportunity to use the will."
